
since there is no unified front either for it or against it, how do you divorce globalization and cultural exchange from appropriation and assimilation? can you divorce it, or are they byproducts of each other, a sort of vicious cycle?
i guess what i mean is that on tumblr and other left-leaning sites (and it is, that’s not a statement of judgement but one of observation), the process of globalization is seen as post-colonialism, and maybe it is. it doesn’t have to be, but the way it’s currently being implemented is not working for anyone, goes the argument.
so what do you think? is it a natural thing, a process of greater interaction between peoples that was bound to happen sooner or later, or a rushed and undue process?
